Rookies to be top Fantasy starts

fantasy footballThe NFL Draft is a couple of months away and for many fantasy owners, they will look very closely on the offensive talent in the first round that can help them win a fantasy championship this season. There are many explosive players that have the potential to be fantasy starts but 3 big time rookies could be even bigger with time.

1.Eddie Lacy Alabama RB: Eddie Lacy reminds me a lot of his former teammate and fellow running back Trent Richardson. He like Richardson has underrated speed and runs with a lot of power and physical force. Although he has a lingering injury, he can be a low-end flex play if he goes to a team that starts him like the Packers or Falcons. Will he have a Richardson rookie year?

Not sure but he can be a snag in the late rounds where he will probably be available.

2. Giovani Bernard UNC RB: A dynamic, explosive, fast, receiving running back that resembles Philadelphia Eagles running back Lesean McCoy. His speed is his best tool for fantasy owners but his versatility with the running and the receiving will help teams greatly who need a good FLEX play. He also resembles Darren Sproles where he can do both running and catching but also is a great returner. Another player that needs to go to a team that will give him a big work load to have starting value, expect Bernard to be available in the 8th and 9th rds or even 10th and 11th.

3. Cordarelle Patterson Tennessee WR- Probably the best WR in the draft, Patterson’s big size and great speed has the potential to immediately be a #1 WR in this league. A place he could go to be a big time WR for fantasy would be either the Buffalo Bills or the Carolina Panthers. He is a huge deep threat but the big thing with Patterson as well as many WRs in this draft is returning. In leagues that give points for returning Patterson will be a nice #3 WR or low-end FLEX play like most rookies this year. Patterson has the potential out of all the prospects to immediately be a huge factor especially if he goes to a team like Carolina who has a franchise QB and is a big time throwing offense. He reminds me a lot like Julio Jones and Roddy White and can be a big time sleeper this year.
